{"id":4944,"date":"2022-08-29T08:00:45","date_gmt":"2022-08-29T07:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ricardomoinhos.com\/?p=4944"},"modified":"2022-08-30T11:13:19","modified_gmt":"2022-08-30T10:13:19","slug":"giving-permissions-to-external-user-to-access-telemetry-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ricardomoinhos.com\/pt\/giving-permissions-to-external-user-to-access-telemetry-data\/","title":{"rendered":"Business Central Telemetry &#8211; Giving permissions to external user to access telemetry data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s post is about telemetry.<\/p>\n<p>To start using telemetry in Business Central, this is the place to go: <a href=\"https:\/\/aka.ms\/bctelemetrysamples\">https:\/\/aka.ms\/bctelemetrysamples<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Basically what you need is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have an Azure account<\/li>\n<li>Create a Application Insights application to receive the telemetry data<\/li>\n<li>Setup your Application Insights connection string in the Business Central Admin Center<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once you have done this, telemetry data will start flowing from the Business Central environment to Application Insights.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately you can only setup <strong><u>one<\/u><\/strong> Application Insights connection string on each environment.<\/p>\n<p>If you think it would be great to setup multiple Application Insights in the same environment, you can vote here:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/experience.dynamics.com\/ideas\/idea\/?ideaid=871a444d-2d8b-ec11-b820-0003ff45e043\">Microsoft Idea (dynamics.com)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In this post I&#8217;m going to show how it is possible to give access to an user that belongs to a different Azure Active Directory (AAD). If you, as a customer or as partner, have an Application Insights key configured in your BC environment, you can give access to external users to the telemetry data.<\/p>\n<p><em>Please note that I will focus on giving permissions to the Application Insights resources but this applies to any other Azure resource.<\/em><\/p>\n<h1 id=\"toc_0\">1. Please note that this is a BuiltInRole but it is possible to create a Custom Role with fewer permissions.<\/li>\n<li>Click on <strong>Next<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Assign this role to the group created previously by clicking on <strong>Select members<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select the group created previously and press <strong>Select<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click on <strong>Review + assign<\/strong> \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"toc_4\">1.4 Accessing the Application Insights in the customer\u2019s tenant<\/h2>\n<p>The user must accept the invitation by clicking on <strong>Accept invitation\u00a0<\/strong>on the received email.<\/p>\n<p>After accepting the invitation, the user should <strong>log out<\/strong> and <strong>log in<\/strong> again into the Azure Portal.<\/p>\n<p>After logging in, click on the <strong>Profile<\/strong> button and select <strong>Switch directory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"AQnwBIM\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"458\" height=\"224\" class=\"aligncenter
